"Circa
1900 is unlike any restaurant in San Antonio -- or all of Texas,
for that matter. Set within an antique emporium...draped in brocade,
dripping with crystal chandeliers and bracketed by art...opulent
setting...duck breast in Champagne sauce handsomely prepared by
chez Circa, beef tenderloin in Madagascar pepper sauce -- impeccable."

“This
highly theatrical space is adorned with plush velvet curtains plus
antique chandeliers and ornate artwork, which combine to offer a
pleasant contrast to the modern, open ceiling. The bar itself appears
to have been inspired by a 50’s Technicolor musical, while
the tables in a second story loft have been set up like opera boxes
that overlook the dance floor.”

San Antonio Express News Weekender – Dec. 2005
“Cleverly
named for its location near the 1900 block of San Pedro, Circa 1900
is quite possibly the most romantic restaurant in all of San Antonio.
Having formerly been an antique shop, the space is filled with exquisite
pieces of furniture and art, brocade fabric dripping from the walls
and candlelight washing the rooms in a soft blush. Adorned with
sparkling mirrors, luscious floral arrangements and Venetian carnival
masks, the bistro seems more like an elaborate movie set than a
dinner setting. Here fine art and fine cuisine commingle quietly
in this dramatic space where heavy curtains swag at the doorways
and baroque frames encircle delicate oil paintings.”
